This beautiful story reminds me from the book of Genesis. The main characters of the story is Listener, the river otter and Honors Himself a buffalo chief. They lived in a village by a great swamp. The frogs like to sing at night. Listener is the only animal who listened to the frogs sing. The buffalo chief does not like frogs singing especially the spotted frog. He picks him up and threw spotted frog by the fire. Listener saved the spotted frog from the fire every time he threw him in the fire.

The spotted frog likes to sing about the prophecy. He told Listener and Honors Himself about the coming of a great flood. Honors Himself did not listen and do not believe the spotted frog. Listener, the river otter listened to the spotted frog. Listener asks the spotted frog what to do when the great flood is coming. The spotted frog told Listener to build a raft, use a rope and tie the raft to the highest oak tree in the woods. Listener also needs to put grass and moss between the rafts so the beaver will not chew the raft. There is an Otter woman who saw Listener while he is building the raft.

Honors Himself does not believe that there is a great flood coming. It rained one day and he is on top of the woods and told the other animals that the rain will stop. It never stop and the water grew higher and higher. Most of the animals were dead except Listener and the spotted frog. One day after the great flood is over, Listeners hears a noise so close to him, and it is a fly. The fly is an otter woman but turned to a fly. It was his wife who turned to a fly. They lived together but the fly keeps on sucking Listeners blood. He turned weak and the fly helps me to get food. The fly caught fish and feed it to Listener. Yet he still hungry and the fly catch some fish again but this time the fish caught the fly and swallow it. Listener is mad and wants to eat the fish. Listener cannot eat the fish as the fly is inside the fish. Listeners changed and grow two legs just like the fly. They became the first man and wife to born into the world.

What I learned about the story is? We always need to prepare for emergency. Listening is the key as well. Their might problems come in our way but with proper thinking we might solve it.

this is so cool, i’m sure when they grow older they will love the animals and respect them even more. K looks so pretty every day that I see your shared photos. Kids should start loving on how to read for that’s where their imagination helps them until they grow older.

Kids these days prefer to read and play on tablets and even mobile phones. Good thing your daughter still likes to read on hardbound books.

  9. Good thing your pretty daughter loves books! Some of the kids these days only touch their iPads! I’m a book lover so I don’t like seeing them read ebooks on their iPads.
